L-carnitine supports fat metabolism and the conversion of fat into cellular energy, helping to transport fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell.* It is considered semi-essential because its synthesis in the body is complex and may be hindered by lack of co-factors, such as lysine, methionine, B1, B6, and iron.
